EUMedRail: delegations from Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Palestine met in The Hague to discuss rail safety
The EU Agency for Railways organised on 20 and 21 March 2019 in co-operation with the Ministry of Transport of the Netherlands and ILT (Environment and Transport Inspectorate). Invited experts from Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Palestine were able to benefit from European railway expertise. The delegations improved understanding on the main tasks of the NSAs (National Safety Authorities), including the issue and revocation of safety certificates and vehicle authorisations, licences of train drivers and supervision to ensure safe railway operation.
50th meeting of the ERA-OSJD Contact Group
The 50th meeting of the ERA-OSJD Contact Group took place in Lille on 05-07 March 2019. Welcome speeches greeting the participants of the anniversary meeting were given by ERA’s Executive Director and representatives of the OSJD Committee and DG MOVE. The European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) and the Organisation for Co-operation between Railways OSJD (http://en.osjd.org/) have been in cooperation since 2007 in the framework of the Memorandum for Understanding.
One-Stop Shop is online
An important achievement of the Agency, the railway sector and national authorities: The One-Stop Shop (OSS) is available to applicants as the single entry point for new tasks of the Agency.
EUMedRail and IPA workshop in Belgrade
From the 12th to the 14th of February, the EU Agency for Railways together with the Directorate for Railways in Serbia (National Safety Authority) held a workshop on Safety Management System and Safety Culture at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, in Belgrade.
The Egyptian Ministry of Transport hosts a seminar on rail accident investigation
The European Union Agency for Railways, in the scope of the EUMedRail project, co-organised with the Ministry of Transport and Egyptian National Railways a seminar on rail accidents investigations and safety culture last 22nd and 23rd January 2019 in Cairo. This event aimed to reinforce the exchange of views between the EU and Egyptian authorities and to promote the understanding of human factors issues faced in the investigation of railway accidents.

European Rail Human and Organisational Factors Seminar 2018
The European Union Agency for Railways organised and hosted the European Rail Human and Organisational Factors Seminar last 14 and 15 November. Recognised academics, professionals and railway representatives reflected during these two days on the challenges the railway industry needs to address.
Upcoming changes in the legislation governing declarations and certificates for railway interoperability constituents and subsystems.
On 9 November 2018, the Railway Interoperability and Safety Committee (RISC) voted unanimously to adopt a new Implementing Regulation setting out important steps in the field of interoperability and the related European processes, which will come into effect with the Fourth Railway Package in June 2019.
Workshop on the Fourth Railway Package – Jornada de difusión sobre el Cuarto Paquete Ferroviario
The workshop organised by the Spanish NSA (AESF), to which the Agency was kindly invited to participate, was considered interesting and attractive by the representatives of the Spanish railway sector attending the event.
Final report on Facilitation of Combined Transport
The Agency published its final report on how to facilitate combined transport along the networks of the Union rail system.
