The Agency conducted the final ÖBB Produktion safety culture peer review pilot in October, concluding a series of seven reviews in different companies, including three under the Commission Twinning II grant coordinated by the International Union of Railways (UIC). Both initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence and fostering collaboration in the European rail sector.
ERA played a pivotal role in developing and refining the review methodology, training hosts, reviewers, and team leaders. The positive impact of these peer reviews, providing valuable insights and fostering innovation, sets the stage for continued collaboration. UIC will now manage peer reviews for operational companies, ensuring the initiative's legacy of continuous improvement within the European rail community.
The peer review was received very positively by the participants. The method was comprehensive and the questions from the team of peers were perceived to be very professional. Operational employees in particular were enthusiastic about the pilot week because they were able to make a contribution and their voice was heard. Together we will now analyse the findings in more detail and derive the next steps to further develop our safety culture.
