Mr Schumacher has an MSc in electrical engineering with 20 years of experience in CCS and he previously worked in IT and telecommunication. He has worked on ERTMS implementation projects in Europe with focus on interoperability, system and operational integration. He is currently working in Swiss FOT on national ERTMS deployment and implementation of the 4th railway package in Switzerland.

“An update on the Swiss ERTMS strategy“ (together with Patrick Favre)

The federal office of transport has recently published its updated Swiss ERTMS strategy. It focuses on the accelerated conversion of entire lines from ETCS L1 LS to L2, on a significant optimisation and acceleration of L2 engineering for the purpose of an efficient deployment, as well as on the ability to use L2 in large nodes. The issue of the life-cycle costs of onboard equipment shall be addressed with high priority.
