Raphael Baumler holds a Ph.D. in Risk Management and focuses his academic work on the impact of the vessel’s socioeconomical environment on safety and environment. Prof. Baumler ended his 20-yearlong seafaring career as Master on a large container ship. He participates or leads IMO capacity-building activities in developing countries and conducts research, including EC-funded projects, related to human factors in shipping and implementation of environmental regulations.
