The TSI package 2023 was adopted by the Railway Interoperability and Safety Committee on 30 March 2023. It is now under translation and will be published and will enter into force during the summer 2023. That package includes amendments to the TSIs ENE, INF, LOC&PAS, NOI, OPE, PRM and WAG and a recast of the TSI CCS. The Register of Infrastructure RINF and the Register of Authorised Types of Vehicles ERATV are amended too.

It is expected to bring several advantages for the European railway, through cost reduction and better visibility for companies in the sector, in particular train manufacturers, infrastructure managers and railway undertakings operating in the European Union. The TSI package 2023 should make it possible to foster the implementation of the TSIs to the existing networks, facilitate combined transport, and harmonise the communication between Railway Undertaking and Infrastructure Manager. This will reduce costs for the rail sector across Europe, making rail more efficient, safer, more competitive with other modes of transport and therefore fostering better its contribution for decarbonising the economy.

Some of the key TSI changes applicable to fixed installations and operation will be presented in this webinar, in particular:

  • Implementation of the TSIs INF and ENE to existing infrastructure;
  • Categorisation of lines;
  • Evolution of the ENE TSI to facilitate the charging of traction batteries;
  • Codification of lines and wagons for combined transport and resulting operational rules;
  • Communication between Railway Undertaking and Infrastructure Manager;

The presentations will cover half the duration of the webinar, giving to participants the opportunity to ask questions on the topics of the webinar. Depending on the number of questions we will receive, this webinar may even run a little bit longer than initially planned (up until 13.30, not more), so we have time to reply to the greatest number of questions possible.
