Fred Coursant is leading the FRMCS studies program at SNCF Réseau. He has started his career in the telecommunication industry where he had spent 20 years at different positions in maintenance, product support, process management, network engineering, sales support and project management. He joined the railway sector in 2007 at the service of the French Infrastructure Manager. He has been involved in the development of Future Railways Management System since 2014. He is also Chairman of the UIC GSM-R Network Management Group at UIC since 2017. 

Moving from GSMR to FRMCS, the challenges for a successful migration 

Time is running out before the end of GSM-R’s life. Identifying and addressing challenges related to FRMCS implementation at the early stages of strategic planning is key to successful migration of mobile telecommunications service to the new system. Sharing experiences among implementers could speed up the process. Successful collaboration for the specification of the FRMCS system will need to continue with cooperation in system testing and coordination for commissioning.
