The Agency has received the mandate to draft common safety methods for assessing the safety level and the safety performance of railway operators at national and Union level.

In compliance with Article 5 of the Agency Regulation, a proposal was drafted by the Agency with the support of representatives of national safety authorities and sector organisations.

In accordance with Article 6 and Article 7 of Regulation (EU) 2016/796, the Agency invites associations and bodies representing users as well as social partners to comment the draft proposal. In this respect, we make available for consultation the final draft proposal for these common safety methods (see document below). This consultation is specifically aiming at receiving your comments on the overall impact of the recommendation from your perspective as defined in the above mentioned articles.

Please note that the comments to this draft recommendation must be provided using the template below and must be sent by email to the functional mailbox (“Consultation.ERA1219” followed by “@era.europa.eu”). This template also contains a reference to the relevant Data Protection Notice.

This final draft proposal for the common safety methods is accompanied by an impact assessment as supporting information (see document below).
