Safety barrier

A safety barrier is a physical, engineered system or human action (e.g., specific procedures, administrative controls) planned in advance to prevent, control, or mitigate undesired events or accidents. They can avert the progression of a potential accident scenario or alter the outcome so that effects are less severe. The safety barrier directly serves the safety function.
