Following the European Commission’s new AI Act transparency guidelines, adopted on 20 July 2026, ERA explains how artificial intelligence is used on its website.
On 20 July 2026, the European Commission adopted guidelines on the implementation of the transparency obligations set out in Article 50 of the AI Act. These guidelines provide practical guidance for providers and deployers of AI systems and clarify how transparency requirements should be applied across the European Union.
As an agency of the European Union, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) is committed to complying with these principles and to using artificial intelligence (AI) in a transparent, responsible and trustworthy manner.
Accordingly, ERA has been progressively implementing transparency measures for new content published on its website since 21 July 2026.

AI-generated visuals may be used for illustration, design or communication purposes. ERA will not use AI-generated content in a way that could mislead users about real events, people, places or factual information.
The Agency retains full editorial responsibility for all content published on its website and ensures that its communications meet the standards of accuracy, integrity and transparency expected of a European Union body.
The AI Act also provides transparency requirements for certain AI-generated texts intended to inform the public on matters of public interest.
However, all textual content published on the ERA website is subject to human review and editorial oversight, and ERA assumes editorial responsibility for its publications. Consequently, such content does not require specific AI labelling under the conditions set out in the applicable European guidelines.
In addition, as already explained here, ERA also makes use of artificial intelligence tools to support translation where appropriate and when the expected quality is considered sufficiently reliable.
This approach reflects ERA's commitment to embracing innovation while maintaining public trust, transparency and accountability in its digital communications.
