Route

The particular section or sections of line. A (railway) route can be seen on a map and has a physical existence, unlike a (railway) path, which is part of a timetable. TAF TSI definition: 'The geographical way to be taken from a starting point to a point of destination.' UIC definition: Consecutive lines and nodes as a whole between a defined source and target. US definition: A rail route is a line of railroad track between two points on a rail system.
