Principal railway line

Railway line maintained and operated for running trains. In the case of regular lines worked exclusively during part of the year (seasonal lines), their length is included in the end-of-year statement. The cumulative length of the principal railway lines within the territory of a country corresponds to its railway network. Also referred to as ‘main line’
