Independent body

An ‘independent body’ means in this context any assessment entity (body or person) which is competent according to national legislation (such as construction law or railway law) to perform an assessment of the protective provisions against electric shock. This independent body may be or not an organisation which is also acting as a notified body or designated body within the meaning of Interoperability Directive (EU) 2016/797
