Dangerous goods / hazardous materials / restricted articles

Dangerous goods are the United Nation's official term for Hazardous Materials. These are materials and objects of which the carriage is prohibited under the RID (International regulation on the carriage of dangerous goods by rail) or authorised only under certain conditions, because they are substances / articles that have dangerous properties that can cause injury to people, and damage to the environment, property and other goods, unless they are correctly handled during transport - including movement, loading, unloading, storage and other handling. A few examples: explosive substances and articles, gases, flammable liquids, toxic substances, radioactive materials.
