In a written article (in French), France 3, one of France’s main public television channels, features the European Union Agency for Railways in its coverage of the Journées du Patrimoine Économique. This nationwide initiative allows more than 550 companies across France to open their doors to the public, offering a unique opportunity to discover their activities and engage directly with professionals. In the Hauts-de-France region, 33 sites are involved, including ERA’s headquarters in Valenciennes

Installed in Valenciennes since 2004, ERA is rarely in the public eye despite its central role in shaping Europe’s railway system. As France 3 reports, the Agency’s participation provides local citizens with a chance to better understand its mission and European dimension. “We are based in Valenciennes, but few people know it. It’s nice not to stay hidden in our fortress and to show that behind the European flag, there are real people,” as is noted within ERA.

The article also highlights the presentation sessions planned for visitors, one of which was already fully booked at the time of reporting. Initiatives like this strengthen ERA’s local visibility while underlining its commitment to openness and transparency. “We are financed by public money, so opening our doors is the least we can do. It is an exercise of transparency with the public,” the Agency added.
