Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking has opened its 2025-02 Call for Proposals, with a total EU funding of €148.2 for projects valued at €245 million. The call supports Research & Innovation (R&I) activities under the Europe’s Rail Amended Work Programme 2025-2026, targeting solutions that take innovations from the lab to the track.

The call covers key areas including rail network management, automation and digitalisation, sustainable and resilient systems, rail freight, and regional and capillary lines. It also encourages studies in Rail Industry 5.0, climate finance innovation, and the development of new talent, including PhDs.

The call is open to all eligible entities - SMEs, universities, start-ups, operators, infrastructure managers, and suppliers - the call aims to deliver interoperable, practical solutions that advance the Single European Rail Area (SERA), support the European Green Deal, and boost Europe’s competitiveness.

A dedicated online matchmaking platform is available until the call deadline on 11 February 2026, enabling stakeholders to find partners, form consortia and collaborate on proposals.
