Estefanía Cortés is civil engineer. She started working in the railway field in 2016, as part of NSA ES. Here she has worked in areas related to railway staff, safety culture and human and organisational factors. She has developed, among others, the monitoring of medical and psychological checks of railway staff, as well as the participation at European level in the working group of Member States on the implementation of the Train Drivers Directive.

Mind on Track: Assesing Train Drivers' Psychological Fitness 

The acquired experience in the assessment of the psychological fitness of train drivers has shown the importance of the periodic checks of such aptitude as well as the need to carry out these assessments in an efficient and uniform manner. To this end, NSA ES has developed an application to assist in the psychological evaluation of train drivers.

Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Ferroviaria (AESF) is a public body that acts as the National Safety Authority within the Spanish railway system.
