On 18 December 2025, La Voix du Nord - a major regional French daily newspaper - reported (in French) on a festive event that took place on 14 December 2025 in Valenciennes, France - where ERA's headquarters are located - for Ukrainian refugee families, highlighting the involvement of the Agency. The initiative brought children and families together for an afternoon of games, creative workshops, and personalised gifts, offering moments of joy, laughter, and connection during the holiday season.
Oana Gherghinescu, ERA Executive Director, was present at the event and praised the local mobilisation, highlighting the values it represents: solidarity, diversity and mutual support. “The spirit of Christmas is closely linked to the idea of family. Despite the war and its consequences, these moments help strengthen bonds and restore hope,” she emphasised, referring to a true “European family”.
ERA’s team initiative and participation in this event reflects the Agency’s ongoing and strong commitment to key EU values of unity and solidarity. The Agency stands with the Ukrainian people and is committed to support local initiatives that bring comfort to the families affected by the war.
