And that’s a wrap! The 2022 Connecting Europe Days are now over. The Agency is very positive about its presence at this Europe’s mobility flagship event that took place in Lyon, from June 28 to 30 June 2022. This conference – formerly known as the TEN-T days – organised by the European Commission together with the French Presidency of the Council of the EU, was the perfect setting for fruitful discussions with the European transport sector.
ERA’s Executive Director Josef Doppelbauer participated in a panel discussion on how to boost long-distance and cross-border passenger rail. “We need a rail traffic planning and capacity management at European level”, stated Josef Doppelbauer. The Executive Director of the Agency had several bilateral meetings, namely with Karima Delli, MEP & Chair of the Committee on Transport and Tourism in the European Parliament. Together, they recalled the Agency’s strategic role as European Authority in identifying and implementing the best solutions to make rail more competitive and the first choice of transport.
We also had the pleasure to meet several visitors at our stand. Among the most addressed topics, the 2022 TSI revision package, which is currently carried out by the Agency. The railway sector has high expectations from this updated version of the legislative tool to establish the European mandatory requirements for the rail system. The other “burning issue” was Multimodality. Following the Multimodal Freight Conference, organised jointly by ERA and Haropa Port on June 22, 2022, in Le Havre, there was a great interest in this topic, with several European ports being represented at the Conference.
If you couldn’t attend these Connecting Europe days, you are still more than welcomed to ask your questions about the 2022 TSI revision package or Multimodality.
We look forward to meeting you to one of our upcoming events, physically or online! Stay tuned!
