Data on infrastructure: An indispensable requisite of planning ond operation of Railway Undertakings.

The business of Railway Undertakings is best service for clients, i. e. freight customers or passengers. In order to design, plan and operate their services the Railway Untertakings are needing a broad scale of data of the infrastructure on which they are operating or desire to operate. The data has to be provided by the Infrastructure Managers in the detail and format necessary. I’ll explain with some details the expectations of the RUs and the challenges at IM as well on RU side.

VDV is the German sector organisation of railways and public transport. VDV advises and supports its member companies and politicians, supports the exchange of experience and know-how between the members and prepares technical, operational, legal and economic principles.  The VDV also represents the interests of its member companies towards parliaments, authorities, industry and other institutions. Therefore, the VDV has offices in Brussels (European office) and Berlin (capital office) besides its head office in Cologne.
