The European Rail sector is one of the most impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic and has suffered a dramatic decrease in passenger transport in the last year, even though freight has proven pandemic resilient.
For a sustainable post-pandemic recovery of transportation, a joint effort is needed. ERA’s initiative aims at bringing together at the same table all the actors who play an important role in this process. There is a need to restore trust in rail passenger transport, and further promote rail freight.
As part of this initiative, ERA organizes this webinar to further explain its vision and potential role in post-pandemic recovery, and to present the main findings of the study entitled: “Travel safety during COVID-19 for passengers travelling long distance by train and other modes”. In this study, ERA develops a first mathematical model to estimate the COVID-19 safety when travelling long-distance by train to provide the necessary knowledge that can be used by decision-makers and the public.
