PhD in Computer Science from the Simón Bolívar University in Venezuela. She is currently a Senior Researcher at the Ontology Engineering Group in the Polythecnic University of Madrid and collaborates in projects related to the area of Linked Open Data and Data Integration. She worked on the development of the Governance Model for Ontologies (GOMO) for the BASF Corporation . Currently she is a Linked Data consultant for the project Linked Data for Railways (LD4RAIL) in the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA).

Challenges and Opportunities in the Alignment of Ontologies in the Railway Sector to Transport Reference Data Models

Ontologies in the railway sector need to be aligned to transport reference models which often are available as a UML specification and that were developed to foster interoperability of data on transport systems across Europe. The alignment with such complex non-ontological resources require the adaptation of existing ontology development methodologies especially during the reuse process in order to consider the non-ontological specifications.

The Ontology Engineering Group (OEG) is based at the Computer Science School at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). It ranks eighth among the two hundred research groups from UPM and it is widely recognised in Europe in the areas of Ontology Engineering, Semantic Infrastructure, Linked Data, and Data Integration.
