The Agency has released a new, consolidated Guide on how to apply for a Single Safety Certificate (SSC), developed in collaboration with national safety authorities and sector representatives.
The Agency has released a new, consolidated Guide on how to apply for a Single Safety Certificate (SSC). This updated Guide replaces the two previous documents addressed to applicants and authorities respectively, and brings together all the relevant information in one place. It reflects lessons learnt from over five years of experience managing SSC applications, as well as recent changes in legislation and updates to the One-Stop Shop (OSS) tool.
The new Guide aims to support both railway undertakings and national safety authorities by providing practical, step-by-step guidance on the application process, including the required structure and content of the application file, the assessment criteria, and procedures for updates, renewals, reviews, and appeals. It also clarifies the roles of the Agency and national safety authorities depending on the area of operation.
Developed in collaboration with national safety authorities and sector representatives, the Guide is a living document and will continue to evolve based on feedback from its users. Additional resources - such as national guides, templates, and OSS tutorials - are available on the ERA website to help applicants navigate the process more effectively.
Check out the new Guide and ensure your application is on the right track!
