The 4th Railway Package has been a major milestone for creating the Single European Railway Area. With this package, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) has received the competence to issue vehicle authorisations.
On 27 April 2023, ERA, in collaboration with the National Railway Company of Belgium (SNCB), invites you to a joint event marking an important milestone in the evolution of the 4th Railway Package implementation: 50 000 vehicles authorised at European Level.
The 50 000th vehicle authorised by ERA was for SNCB that also operates it. During the event, it will be displayed on the platform the AM96 trainset, authorised to operate in two Member States: Belgium and France, fitted with ERTMS - the European harmonised signalling system, and equipped with GSM-R – the EU radio system.
We plan an in-person, engaging event, allowing us to explain the authorisation process and its added value for EU businesses and EU citizens, from a double perspective, both institutional and applicant. Together with prominent speakers, we will highlight its fundamental role for creating the Single European Area and share our vision and strategic approach for the coming years.
The speeches will be followed by a Q&A session with all the participants.
