With more than 3,000 companies and over 170,000 trade visitors gathered in one place, InnoTrans once again provided a unique opportunity to connect with partners, stakeholders and rail professionals from across Europe and beyond.
From interoperability and safety to digitalisation, resilience and international cooperation, this week highlighted the importance of working together to deliver a more connected, efficient and sustainable railway system.

As part of a shared effort by the European Commission, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) and the European railway sector to promote safe, interoperable and sustainable rail systems worldwide, ERA and the European Commission's Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA), working in close cooperation with the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), launched a new phase of their collaboration through the signature of a €5 million Contribution Agreement covering the period 2026-2030 at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin.
The doors are open, and InnoTrans 2026 is officially underway!
From today until 25 September, Berlin becomes the meeting point for the global rail community at the world's leading trade fair for transport technology and innovation.
Visit ERA at the EU Stand (Hall 4.2, Stand 260) alongside the European Commission and Europe’s Rail Joint Undertaking to explore the Agency’s latest activities, initiatives and developments shaping a safer, more interoperable and competitive European railway system.

On 22 September 2026, at InnoTrans, the Agency presented the Ten Commitments of The New ERA.
More than objectives on a page, these commitments reflect a renewed ambition: to deliver tangible results for the Single European Railway Area, from interoperability and safety to competitiveness and resilience.
The Women in Rail Award recognises the individuals, teams and organisations driving change and creating concrete opportunities for women across the railway sector. The winners were celebrated during a dedicated award ceremony at InnoTrans 2026, bringing together representatives from across the European rail community to recognise their achievements and contributions to the sector.
Organised by the European Commission's Women in Transport Platform, the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA), Europe's Rail Joint Undertaking (EU-Rail), the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER), the Association of European Railway Industries (UNIFE), European Rail Infrastructure Managers (EIM) and the Federation of European Train Drivers' Unions (ALE), the award celebrates outstanding contributions to diversity, innovation, leadership and operational excellence in rail.
Ahead of InnoTrans 2026, the European Train connected Brussels and Berlin, bringing together railway professionals, policymakers and industry representatives from across Europe. Along the journey, participants exchanged views on the future of European rail and the challenges ahead.
