The Agency organised the European Rail Safety Days in Kraków, Poland, from 1 to 3 October 2025. This year's conference focused on understanding workplace reality within railways, which is both critical and challenging for controlling operational risks. The conference served as a great platform to interact and foster cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders in the field of railway safety.
The agenda featured engaging panel sessions, discussions and thought-provoking keynote speeches. With a broad selection of 10 possible workshop options, participants were able to focus on the topics that suited their interest, including how to improve HOF performance through monitoring, hazard reporting, human error analysis or competence management.
Participants benefited from meaningful discussions with railway experts and other high-risk industry experts during coffee and lunch breaks, the networking dinner, the closing cocktail and technical visits.
Next stop: Gender equity in railways.
This interactive session, held on 1 October 2025 during the European Rail Safety Days spotlighted the winners of the Women in Rail Awards, offering a platform to present their projects and reflect on their long-term impact.
