The NIB Network – European Network of Rail Accidents National Investigation Bodies regularly publishes newsletters dedicated to key railway safety topics. Each edition highlights lessons learned from investigations, practical examples, and recommendations to support continuous safety improvement across the EU rail system.

Newsletter No. 1 – Improving railway safety and preventing accidents

The first issue explores concrete ways to enhance railway safety, featuring case examples such as train derailments, train fires, and the measures implemented to prevent similar events in the future.

This edition focuses on the investigation of less common incidents to help prevent future accidents. It includes insights on dangerous goods incidents, signalling failures, wheel failures on freight wagons, and more.
