ONLINE WEBINAR - EUROPE
16/07/2020, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM (CET)
The European Union is politically committed to play a leading role in building an environmental policy at world level. The key target of 90% reduction in transport greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions is part of the ambition to make the European continent climate neutral by the year 2050.
To foster the railway sector as greenest mode of mass transport and make it the backbone of sustainable mobility, the key targets are the following:
Accounting for less than 0.5% of GHG emissions from transport, railway has a pivotal role in the future of mobility in Europe. We want to share with you in a lively debate the results of our research paper on how the railway sector can significantly contribute to the European Green Deal objectives.
Karima Delli, chairwoman of the Transport and Tourism Committee of the European Parliament, has shown her commitment to promote rail freight as the cleanest transport mode for delivering goods by initiating and signing a joint rail freight sector declaration together with Josef Doppelbauer, ERA Executive Director, and the CEOs of many European rail freight transport companies.
She will introduce the webinar with ERA Executive Director Dr. Josef Doppelbauer followed by a presentation of Idriss Pagand, Project Officer, Analysis and Monitoring Unit and Sara Bizzotto, Executive Office and Communication Unit.
Dr. Josef Doppelbauer and Idriss Pagand will be available for Q & A session in the second part of the webinar.
