Following the successful safety summit in 2018, it is our pleasure to announce the European Rail Safety Days, which will be held from the 26th to the 28th May 2020, in Valenciennes, France.

The European Rail Safety Days aims to inspire, offer networking opportunities and exchange knowledge across the industry. It is time for European rail leaders and professionals to meet and reflect on the safety developments within and outside the sector.

The event will provide the setting to exchange good practices related to the challenges the railway sector faces. Identifying cross-industry lessons to drive cultural change is paramount to accomplish the goal of Europe as world leader in railway safety.

The topics will be:

  • Cultural changes > Create a common understanding of the European railway safety culture model and how it can be used as a framework to achieve sustainable and safe performance.
  • Safety Leadership > Design and implement initiatives to develop safety leadership skills targeting rail safety managers at all levels.
  • Assessing the reality > Share lessons learnt on governance and management of railway safety.
  • Railway vehicles maintenance and regulation > Vehicle maintenance has reached an exciting phase where new technologies allow optimisation of maintenance strategies. Regulation 779/2019 will support this and other developments within maintenance.

On the 26th May, the event will kick off with safety leadership and a variety of practical workshops to foster dialogue and share safety learnings. This will be followed-up with the main event on safety culture on the 27th and on the 28th the conference will deal with maintenance and the new Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) regulation .
