Nicolas Gohel has 20 years of experience in transport economics and financing. He has broad expertise in feasibility studies, business cases, economic analysis, infrastructure pricing schemes, procurement and management of complex projects. He has been following ERTMS deployment for the past 8 years and is involved in the DAC CBA. He also provides economic support to the System Pillar on modularity and ASTP. 

Analysis of on-board cost drivers, proposed mitigation measures – preliminary results

Recent data collection carried out by the Deployment Management Team (DMT) on the behalf of European Commission showed a sharp increase in ETCS costs for on-board retrofitting and upgrade projects. DMT investigated this issue by listing cost drivers at the different steps of the process of the projects (design, deployment, authorization), and proposing some mitigation measures to bring the costs back to a more acceptable level.
