On request of the Commission the Agency examined first notifications of national safety rules by the Member States. This report determined the compliance of these notifications with the relevant requirements of the Railway Safety Directive and identified some issues of concern. This report formed basis for the relevant recommendations to the Commission on how to improve the process for the notification of safety rules and their registration in the Agency’s database. The approach taken in this examination was further developed in the Agency’s guidelines for the Member States and was applied in the evaluation of the clarified and new notifications.
