The guidance for railway undertakings and infrastructure managers sets out practical information on how to design and implement a Safety Management System (SMS:
  • the high level guidance (A system approach) referring to requirements and elements contained in Article 9 and Annex III of the Directive 2004/49/EC
  • additional explanation (Terminology; Internal audit; Integration of management systems) and
  • further reading to deepen knowledge.

The guidelines takes into account the feedback of the actors and are complemented with specific topics, as human factors, safety culture, etc.
