Publication and availability at national level

Member States have the obligation to publish their national safety- and technical rules and make them available to all interested parties. The Agency has a number of activities monitoring and promoting the correct management of these rules.
 
Until 2010 we evaluated how national safety rules are established, published and made available by the Member States. We identified some discrepancies with the Railway Safety Directive and big room for improvement. This work resulted in a recommendation and reports to the European Commission.

In February 2010, the Agency delivered a recommendation to the Commission on the publication of national safety rules in order to make the relevant information more easily accessible
 
This Recommendation is based on the following reports:
September 2009: Final Report by the KEMA / Cetren Consortium on the Study of the publication and availability of national safety rules in 17 EU Member States and for the Channel Tunnel (will be published soon, with the comments taking by the National Safety Authorities)
 
May 2008:
Final report by the Consortium Colin Buchanan and Partners on the Study of the Publication and Availability of National Safety Rules in some EU Member States and Norway
