Freight train derailments

As agreed between the RISC and EU TDG Regulatory Committees on the 6 October 2009, the Agency was requested by the European Commission to recommend on the most efficient measures for reducing the risks of freight train derailments. The Agency will deliver its next recommendation to the Commission in March 2012. This recommendation will be an important milestone of Agency’s activities contributing to the reduction of freight train derailments.

  • DG RTD call on ‘Reducing the occurrence and impacts of freight train derailments’
  • Research project on ‘Reducing the occurrence and impacts of freight train derailments’ (depending on the result of the call mentioned above),
